  • Hi fellas,
    I've been poking around for a bit and have really enjoyed reading about other folks adventures and useful tips. I've been driving an Avenger EFI with rubber tracks and having a blast. Well I just sold it and was able to snag a Mudd-Ox. I'm super excited to put some hours on it, and I look forward to talking to some of you guys on the forum. I especially enjoy seeing some of the good ideas a lot of you have. See ya round. Buzz

        • Hi guys I'm new to the 6x6 world had lots of dirt bikes 4x4s jeeps and boats. Got this old bazoo that a guy put a 500 yamaha in and couldn't get running.Took me a week of part time farting around and now it runs pretty good and I looking forward to its firs swim. I will post videos if I don't sink it.

          • Hello, I'm Joe. I've owned motorcycles and atv's. I've wanted an aatv for years, I have started to look almost everywhere. I live in Kentucky and I think I have narrowed it down. I would like to get your input on which is easier to work on, more cost efficient to work on, how good the tubs hold up from rocks and stob, etc. I would also like to know about the drive chains and how good they hold up and do you ever have to repair them on the trail. I would also like to know how long the bearings and sprockets last. Also, in your opinion, which aatv would hold up better, the Attex or the Argo? I would appreciate any information you can give me. Thanks!

              Joe, welcome to the site. Between an Attex and an Argo, my first thought is that the Argo is better built but I guess that really depends on what year Argo you are looking at.

                Actually the Argo is probably the best built machine and is pretty heavy duty. Unless you get to early like Mike stated. Its like the tractor in the 6x6world. Sounds like the newer hdi trans are having some temperature issues but the older ones are pretty solid with an occasional brake system failure. That is pretty much from what I read though, never owned one. The older transmission are good but do have a differential drive which gives basically the same results as the rear end in an open differential truck, one side can spin. But with knowledge of your machine you learn when it is and to brake that side some to get the traction side working. There body is pretty much bullet proof and I believe they come equipped with a skid plate unless its just an option that everyone gets. I cant recall one not having one. Argo seems to be a pretty reliable machine though. The attex is usually considered the faster ones of the crowd. The earlier body is abs which cracks easily but can be repaired. The t-20 transmission is bullet proof and can handle being powered by smaller car engines with no problems. It is still used in Max atvs. It has full power to each side. The attex would require more tinkering and fixing little things here and there to keep running. Nothing that most of us cant handle though. These things are pretty simple with a fancy transmission. Like a gokart really. If the body is good and the transmission is good, the rest is nothing to worry about. Engines can be swapped if the oem one is to bad. They can be found cheap or you can spend money on them too for some really good ones. Next thing is the tires, they can be found easy but are expensive. Axles can be made at machine shops if the dealer is over priced or if there is no dealer around anymore. Bearings are easy to come buy at local farm stores or stores online like buffalo bearings. Same with chains. Good luck what ever you find.

                  the Argo is a 2000 model 6x6 with 480cc engine, please look over my spelling and how long it takes me to type. I can use tools and fabricate almost anything, but figuring out the letter on keyboard, it's bad I know being 33 and just learning some of the stuff on the computer, thank goodness for my wife, or I would be lost on this computer stuff. I always liked, welding, taking stuff apart to see how it worked, and then putting it back together. Thanks for your knowledge.

                    Recently purchased max II, doing a basic tune up and chain adjustment any suggestions for jacking it up to adjust the chains?

                    • Hi jrhnnc, welcome to the site. When I jack my Max II up, I put the jack under the six wheeler from the rear as far as I can and jack up one side at a time, trying to catch the outer edge of the frame with the jack.

                      • Hi my name is Rob Im new to 6x6 world Im try to rebuild a action scrambler right now i also have a amphicat has transmission no chain to it or tires or rims try to sell for $200 or best offer i live in elyria ohio if any one wants the hole thing or just transmission you call at 440 653 0035 my scrambler should be up and running soon everthing works great but having engine trouble got figure it out

                          I saw a post on this site regarding my 70's trailboss ATV I had listed on EBAY so I thought I'd join your forums. There was a comment that it was painted. Not painted but polished with conventional automotive wax-worked pretty good. Also saw a couple other posts about it. It didnt sell in my EBAY auction so I figured I could put it out on here and answer any questions if nessessary...

                              I’ve been surfing this site for a while and decide to join it. I’ve never owned an aatv but have friends how owned some and I drove them during hunting season. Via this site I would like to acquire the knowledge to build an AATV, since I’m a programmer and not a mechanics I might have a lot of questions :-)

                                my name is Rod Rushton, i live in belnan nova scotia canada.i was left a 1974 skipper 6x6 by my grandfather when he passed away.i have had it now for over 2 years and love it!!! i had to put a new set of points and condensor in it and replaced all the chains,i will post some pics of it shortly, this is a great site! ps. i am now in need of a bosch starter for mine 001 160 002.
