    • Hello all my name is Terry I live in Dieterich IL, I am new to this site and to amphibious aatv's. I was looking to buy a 6x6 a couple months back and ran across a 1970's scrambler Got'cha on Craigslist thought it was pretty cool looking so I bought it instead of a 6x6. I ran across this site on the net and found it very helpful so I decided to join the group. I enjoy working on old stuff like this and my boy who is 14 is also enjoying it now. I figure it better for him to be learning something like this than sitting in front of a video game. Any info or pics of Gotchas would be helpful.

      • Hi Terry, welcome to the forums. There are a couple of Gotcha owners on the board that should be able to help you out if you ever need it.

              • I am a new owner of a used (82 I was told) Hustler 6x6 and know very little about these machines. It has a Kohler 2 stroke engine but it hasn't been run for a couple years so do not know condition. It has a Walboro WF carb plus has an external pulse pump but not sure of it's condition as it has been disconnected so not sure if it works. Does any one know if I can run engine on gavity flow from temp tank to see if engine will run. If it is of no value I don't want to send money on fuel pump, control cables etc. I have some questions if I want to keep 2 stroke or change out for 4 stroke. Any thoughts? Rich Relics has been very helpful and I a sure has parts that I need. I would benefit from a repair and/or owners manual. I have several other questions but will stop there. I am western NE. Thanks for any help.

                • Welcome Ivan,

Using the IV method to run an engine to see if it os a fuel flow issue is the way to go. Just do what you were thinking and you will be able to trouble shoot a little bit. You may want to do some searching on here for answers, and if a topic is not discussed, just start a new thread in the hustler or appropriate forum.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

                      • Hello everyone. My name is Chet, Im from Oregon, and I am looking to purchase my first 6x6 argo probably in the next 2 weeks. The Argo Im looking at is a mid 80s vintage, has a broken (in half) axle, one bad outer bearing, and the engine has been taken out. The guy has a replacement 16 hp vanguard that runs, and as I work in a full service fab shop, I will repair the axle and order a new bearing and chainset through my company. it also comes with a set of tracks in very nice condition. Installing the new engine is not a problem for me, Im a born tinkerer. My question is this: what specifically should I look for that may kill the deal, as Im not really familiar with these machines. The cost will be 6-800 dollars.

                          • Thanks for the reply. I live near Albany, Or, in the willamette valley. Bend is about 100 miles from my house. Im going to take a closer look at the argo this weekend, and make sure all the parts are there, the tub is in good shape, etc. Cant wait to get it home and start wrenching!

                              • I,m new to this kind of thing...anyway I have a 2001 Max IV with 18 horse vanguard I just bought this fall. I had some difficulty with shifting until I bought a shift kit... Presently having some trouble with having enough power to climb steeper hills, acts like there is a govener on it. Any suggestions? Eventually I would like to put tracks on it and I,m afraid it would,nt have the power... So far even with these problems it has been alot of fun...
