Hello, my name is Eric. Im new to the forum and new to the 6x6 scene. Looks like a lot of fun. I've always had dirt bikes and atv's but never a 6x6 until a fellow at work offered me his versatrek jiger project for a case of diet pepsi. It doesn't run but it's very complete. Cant wait to get it running. And look forward to hearing from others with more experience in the 6x6 world.
Welcome to the forum. That guy must have really been addicted to diet Pepsi to trade for a case of it. I'd say you got a great deal on a vintage piece if aatv history.

Cans or Bottles?
The trouble with retirement is.... I never get a day off !!!!
Hi I am new here from New Brunswick, Canada, just purchased a 6x6 argo and have no idea of the model or year......... lol I am wondering if someone can guide me to find the year, model and explain how to post a pic.
For the year of your Argo, post a photo and someone should be able to help take an educated guess. You can also search the Argo forum. There are a few threads on obtaining the year with your serial number. You can call your local Argo dealer with your serial number and get that information or email Argo directly. Again, the details on doing so can be found with the search in the Argo forum.
Welcome to the site Reg. Search out the Argo forum - one of the members was compiling a thread that contained the Argo changes over the years so folks could find answers for the very sort of question you are asking. Throw a new thread on that forum and ask again. Drop a picture in it. They are going to want to know some details like: hydraulic or mechanical brakes? splined or pinned axles? 8 wheels? What markings on the engine? Can you find your serial number?
Anyway Howdy!
DOH - I was going to link you to how to post pics but saw that Mike beat me.

Welcome to the site pxoiorty!
Here is a thread I started with some information that may help you ID your model and year. It needs more info but its a start. Hope it helps.
I'm new to 6x6, just purchased 2 Max IIs this weekend. One ready to go and the 2nd that I plan as a project for 3 generations of the family. I've been looking for a project to restore with my dad and son and I can think of anything more fun than a 6x6. I think my 70 year old dad is more excited than my 9 year old son. I’m sure I will be asking for plenty of advice trying to get 2nd one going (and keep the 1st one moving).
Thanks
Jamie
Those little max II's are great machines. Parts are plentiful from both the factory and forum members if you are trying to keep your build on budget. It sounds like the prefect father son project. Post some pics when you get a chance.
Hi. Just got a Max II. I was looking for a four wheeler on craigslist, and came across a guy that had one. I thought it looked like a lot more fun. I'm in Atlanta GA. I'm sure I'll have a lot more questions, but my first one is this. How do I secure it from theft? I have a shed that I thought it would fit in, but it's just a bit too wide. I have chains, but I don't see any good areas to thread them through. Is there a lock that will fit over the hitch? Right now I leave it in neutral before I turn it off. I'm worried about it being too easy to roll. If nothing else, can I put it in drive when parked to keep it from rolling? Thanks for any advice. Very excited to start my 6x6 experiences! - Joe
Hi Joe, welcome to the forum. If your Max still has the springs on the laterals that keeps them pushed forward, then you can put it in reverse and that will act as a parking brake. When you are in reverse, you push the laterals forward to stop so the springs are keeping the laterals forward and braking the Max via the transmission.
For preventing theft, you could chain the axles to something and padlock it there.
Hi
l stumbbled over this site while researching about biulding myself a 6x6,
l am from birmingham in the uk, not much of a 6x6 scene here l am afraid, l have been looking at some of your videos, you have some marverlous places to ride
we have nothing like that round here,
l know its easier to go and buy an argo cat but for me half the fun is designing and biulding my own stuff, up till now everything l have biuld has been a 4 wheeler
can l start a thread on "designing a 6x6" l have many questions such as is just braking one side enough to turn or do l need to drive one side backwards to effect a sharp turn ?
or how much power do l need is the more the better or is there such a thing as too much power etc etc
anyway Hi all
Andy
Hi Everyone,
Just recently purchased a project Scrambler from Scramblerman here in Atlanta and I have been lurking around this site for about a month now looking at alot of good information. I've got a total restoration ahead of me and will be needing some parts for sure. Never tried the amphibious vehicle before but was sold after having driven one. I've owned countless streetbikes, dirtbikes and atv's over the past 40 years and I have been long overdue stepping into one of these.
Thanks for all the knowlege everyone has put out there as I'm sure to be tapping into most of it in the near future.
Hi Baloo, welcome to the site. I'll send you a PM about custom machines.
LGSCRAMBLER: 1st, Welcome. 2nd, Scrambler driveline parts are usually hard to find, and really don't work as well anyway. Other members have put old MaxII frames and T-20 transmissions in scramblers in order to save the old machines......something to consider.
