Hi photomd, welcome to the site.
Chevron, or horizontal bar tires also aid in turning because our machines pivot on the middle tires with the front and rear ones sliding sideways. Some tires will have too much sideways bite and hinder turning. These tires are called "excavators". The grip is great, but the swimming is slow.
Another thing to think of is swampy mud will act more like water than solid ground.
You may be floating/swimming in the "soup".Attached Files

Hello all, I am new to the forum, and the 6x6 world! I cant tell you how excited I am. I just recently got what i think to be a 1970 scrambler, 1100 series of some kind. I got it from a freind with no drivetrain, tires are original from the 70's and everything is shot, the only reason I got it, the fiberglass is in great shape, besides some sun beatings. Ill try to attach a picture. I live in Central NJ USA, and want to be one of the few people in jersey to ride these everywhere. the snow is coming soon, and I wanna try to have this ready. Contact me anytime, I am always looking for help and info. thanks,
Andrew

My name's Dave. I just registered here. I have had a Max IV since 2001. I live in Minnesota and use my Max IV for deer hunting. I love the amphibious capability. There is nothing like passing a line of cars waiting at the boat landing (after asking each one if I can budge in of course) and launching the rig off the landing. I've fished and duck hunted out of it. A great machine.

Welcome demck1945. Beavers is pretty cool. Im sure a lot of guys here would love to see pics of your beaver too. We have fun playing with beavers whenever one pops up for sale. Have you ever gotten your beaver wet? Check the wheel and tire section for info on tires. Seems to be an odd size, not sure what else will work, but somebody will know.l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

Just joined this site thanks to "WHIPPER" very knowledgeable gentleman who lead me here. living in the white mountains of az. (yes it does snow here) and now retired.I have a 1991 max ll just purchased 2 weeks ago and in the process of rebuilding the unit. i've always been interested in these but never had the time. being an equipment operator and truck driver-mechanic rebuilding this is a pleasure, always had a motorcycle and still do, i've decided to make the plunge and glad I did. looking forward to see what this unique machine will do when completed. I'll be following the site to pick up any ideas that I can from the people that know these machines inside and out. Glad to be here
