Hey Mike, welcome (back) to the site. It sounds like six wheeling is in your blood. You can start a new thread in the wanted section to see if anyone has a 440 and you may get a better response.
Hi all. Well this is a real first for me. not only my first aatv, but my first time to post on a forum. I just acquired an old amphicat with lots of problems, so I'll probably be on here with lots of questions. I've already seen a lot of helpful info, so keep up the posts. my amphicat has a sachs 2 cycle. I'm just starting the tear down so we'll see how it goes. I know I'm going to need to do some abs repair so if anyone has suggestions on the best stuff to use for that I'm all ears. I'm from central Illinois so if anyone else is from near by, holler at me.
thanks for the site, i'ts awesome!
Good day all anether enthusiast joining the army. just picked up a vanguard 2 up here in edmonton alberta canada. also have a prairie bobcat good site looking forward to posting and veiwing all the info and pics.
amphinewbie and dyrtydiesel, welcome to the site. It's good to have some more members that already have ATVs. Upload some pictures to the gallery if you get a chance so we can see what you have.
my name is zak, im new here and and also to the whole 6x6 world. i gotta ramco retriever and it ran great until one day it wouldnt start, the voltage regulator was fried and all the wiring pretty much sucks, lmao. i really wanna get it running again so i can get some killer footage and try to get some videos of my own on here. does anybody have a wiring diagram or some other way to help out, lol. it crushes me just watching it sit in the corner on those rainy muddy days. also does any body know where to get some ramco retriever parts like sprockets and whatnot, maybe that starter/alternator bs too.
Those Ramco Retrievers are very cool machines. The man who invented them is actually a member on the site here and he was nice enough to upload all of his old pictures of the machines when they were in production.
Sprockets and bearings can probably be bought at any bearing/industrial supply store since most machines used ones that are not very complex. You can probably make some universal fit sprockets work without too much effort. As far as the engine issue goes, tell us what kind of motor you have in the engine section of the site and there will be a lot of people that will chime in and be willing to help you out. Welcome to the site!
"Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

well i took the starter out and tested it and it has a short. i think im gonna try to put a 12 hp pull start engine in it that was taken off a rototiller or something for temporary use so i don't have to use a alternator, starter or a battery i guess. i kinda wanna rebuild the engine that came in it. i think its a 12 hp kohler engine. i dunno though... by any chance do you have any good ideas? i don't know what the best route would be.
Hi everybody I'm new to this forum. I have a 1970 scrambler 6x6. I'm trying to restore it so if any body has any ideas I would love to here about them.
hi all,
just bought a 1984 8 wheel argo with the kohler twin17 engine, when driving the engine is surging, resulting in abrupt speed changes, any ideas what the cause(s) could be?
thanks, Daniel
when the engine hunts and surges, chances are that the carb needs a good cleaning.might as well throw a kit in it while you got that sucker all apart.also dont forget to change the fuel filter.
