Just bought another KID with a good body and a ton of parts (its complete) plan to use this body on the kid im restoring now and repair my other body to drop on the kid i just brought home... It should run with some tlc because this engine turns over easy just missing the carb and i already have a spare one. Most likly this kid will be for sale within a couple of months when I get my full restoration of the first kid done and repair my old body for this one and change oil in it and what not. but who knows I might just restore this one too Illl post pictures soon

FINALY DROVE ONE OF MY KIDS YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! All I did to the kid i bought in texas was swamp manifolds bolt on the carb and add oil in engine and hydrostats.......and i was off!!! Of course my luck is i drove it around the yard a couple of times then decided to do a zero turn and busted a gasket in the right hydrostat now i have even more motivation to finish my other one which is coming along slowly (at the moment) but surely------DANG aatvs are fun to drive even if it is just 7 minutes!!!!

Thanks for the thread. Started the Kid recently. The sound of the motor is surprisingly deep and throaty, The air cooling system blew a cloud of dust that filled the barn. My question now is, with a machine not running for a long period of time, will the hydrostat gaskets dry out? My triple chains are disconnected, and I see the sprockets turning, I hope to bypass the blown gasket problem. I'm also having a slight stiffness with the control cables. I hope to roll her out of the shed, before connecting the triple chains and starting the engine. Thanks again for the motivation.

My suggestion for not blowing a gasket would be drive it in straight lines and make broad turns for the first couple of times you drive it. It is funny you say that about the "cloud of dust" because when we started one of mine we were leaning over the motor and caught it square in the face!

                    • Update-my kids coming along good ive just welded in the front half of new thicker floor in my chasis. Also used spray in bed liner on the bottom and the inside of the floor to make everything rust proof and more rugged (but painted the frame rails) PICs will be coming soon

                      • hi just read all the kid treads, i have a sumers bush mashine if you need extra flotation summers put foam blocks in between the tires to fill the gap we used sm foam but they used a white foam like the foam on pool noodels, i used pool noodels to fill the tube that holds my extra row of tires, you cold even put a flat round pice in the rim of the outside tire, every bit helps

                        • I always thought that was a good Idea, esp on max 12" wheels. Fill both sides of the wheel with styrofoam cylinders. you'd have to split the inside piece to get it around the axle. Havn't thought about retaining it, or how much flotation it would add..

                          • New pictures of my project. I have installed all my outer bearings in the housings plus put two seals in each housing instead of one and the new thicker floor is welded in...dont have a picture but the bottom of the chassis is covered in truck bed coating as will the bottom of the chassis soon (not the frame rails they will be painted black) [/IMG]

                            • Just took all the bearings out of all my chain idlers and the large drive sprockets.....easy although it ends up all of those bearings cost 150$!!! Just for the idlers...gahh if you ever want to restore an aatv dont go with a KID alot of money and even more time...but sooner or later it will have to pay off more pictures of the four lower large chain idlers with new bearings and the two triple chain idlers with new bearings and the main drive sprockets with new bearings

                              • Would you happen to have the bearing and seal part numbers? Im working on a kid now but haven't had time to work on it but would like to get the parts ordered.
