I'll do actual head to head testing (also GPS water speed) since I have both ASX's and Goodyears, but I'm assuming that it won't be until later this month since there's supposed to be 6 inches of snow tonight......I'm so sick of Buffalo.

I'm not much for the cold, Robbie and I'll be honest I'm quite jealous of the warm weather you guys get down there. I'm stuck indoors over half the year because I hate going outside in it. I'm actually moving south this summer and if I never see snow again, that'll be fine with me. When you break down in your machine in 2 feet of snow and 20 degrees making repairs isn't fun (ask some of guys from the Buffalo area about that). I've only put a couple of hours on my new Briggs Vanguard and ASX's since last year. Unfortunately my toys spend more time sitting in the garage that I'd like. Good thing there's a good 6 wheeler site where I can go to when I'm stuck in the house so long.

My first experience with Goodyears was not being able to climb out of a pond due to the tires gumming up....pretty much doesn't happen with Vampires....and mine swim just fine...

As far as mudding, I have run both, and there is no way I would go back to Goodyears. The Goodyears ride rough too.....

I will say there are times when everybody is just going to get stuck, like when me and Sandcassle found that chest deep gray muck.....tire selection just did not matter....it was winch or push time for everybody! The crazy 8 track at River Run is another good example....

Got the ASX's in some of the most fierce red clay goop I have ever seen. Had the properties of peanut butter. If the tires can spin these tires will pull ya through. Luckly my 6 year old son was riding up front with me. I had him hold the throttle open while I rocked the Max IV back and forth. Whew!, we made it through.

Opps! What happened to my cell phone!!@#$%

I had to take off my shoes and shocks and dig through until I found my phone. I sunk up to my knees and could hardly move. I could not get this mud off of me. I had to wait until I got home and use high pressure to get it off. Nasty stuff!

I am real glad we made it through, cause there was nowhere to hook the winch to.

Very nice! Another advantage of the ASX's is their huge width. Because they're just under 14" wide they help lower the exerted PSI of the machine down quite a bit. When you get in really sticky stuff like you did, those super aggressive sidewall lugs kick in and really help pull the machine through. There's a very steep ravine in my backyard and the water from the rest of the woods runs down in the one spot that I usually try to take my 6 wheelers down. Going down isn't usually a problem, unless you start sliding sideways (which was a common problem with the Goodyear tires on all my other 6 wheelers), but those side lugs hold my Hustler in whatever direction I tell it to go. Going up it is an even bigger battle. When I'd take my Max II up it with Rawhide III's, it would make it part of the way up and then the tires would cake up and it would slide backwards, sometimes even if the tires were still spinning forward it would still slide back. The stock Goodyears on my Hustler would instantly do the same thing. This winter after a brief thaw the hillside had water trickling down through the gumbo type mud on the hillside and a friend of mine took the Hustler down it with the ASX's. I never thought it would have made it back up, but those tires just grabbed on and pulled the machine with both of us in it right up the hill through the mud and running water. I'm certain that any other tire would have left us at the bottom of the ravine and we would have been walking back to get the Farmall and 100' of rope and chain to pull us out.

And by the way, nice video of your rig in action, Boncrshr!

                      jpswift1,

The ASX tires that you now have on your Hustler Bigfoot , sure perform a whole lot better than the Goodyear Terra tires that you took off it , don,t they?

Hey mudbug, the difference is day and night. The ASX's have a much deeper lug that is spaced much farther apart than the Goodyears and they are two inches wider. Plus they have that super aggressive sidewall lug that bites right into just about any terrain. The extra width allows my Hustler to exert much fewer PSI than the Goodyears did and the extra tread depth pulls it right through or up just about anything.

                          Swin test

Hey, I had a lot of problems swiming at Busco, brought the Max home put the Asx tires on front, V's foward, middle vampires backward, rear vampires forward. I picked up some water speed and got my control back (I had none Before) should have know this from my swamp fox days. Any way, four more ASX tires on the way. Swims about 1 1/2 mph as is. I expect to have a swim speed of about two MPH with six ASX's middle ones reversed. Swims faster when I back off the throttle. In the process 0f putting mud flaps on now. Enjoy.

                            Thanks Dan!

Looks good. I'm still waiting on spacers and engine parts.

Been riding some more and the reversed ASX on the rear sure throw water/sand/bebris in the the rear of the tub.

Let me know what you do for mud flaps. Going to try your recommended tire setup on the ASX's this weekend. ><>
