    • Wow...Chris impressive looking for sure!! I want some video of that horsepower monster of yours churning those ASX's!!

EDIT: Taught the wife how to drive the Hustler this weekend, here's a short video showing my Hustler pulling my trailer in the salt marsh. My trailer weighs almost 1000 lbs, then I put gear and people on it for the 3/4 mile drive to our fishing/hunting spot. Prior to getting Vampires on my Hustler I would never have considered this.....granted I have to be careful where I do this as some of the marsh mud is just chest deep muck, but I do have a lot more confidence with the Vampires than when I was running Goodyear Rawhides or Kenda Bearclaws....

      Hammers should have warning labels.

Your wife looks right at home behind the sticks, but Bo looks a little nervous! That thing is quiet, too. I got to come down there sometime, looks like a great place to ride.

I picked the wheels up from Recreatives, not sure if they are true k-locks or not, but it is the rim on the factory max. I am going to try and turn the treads around this weekend and see if it helps with the water speed.

Hey JP, are you headed down to the warm part of the world?

        • OT: Thanks!! Redfishing should be heating up here soon...BTW, the Honda was surging at idle, come to find out it was valve adjustment, ran like a top this weekend.

Chris, If all goes as planned, I'm heading south in the end of August. Those rims from Recreatives are the same ones that Don and I have our Vampire ASX's on and they're indeed the Kawasaki K-locks. I haven't popped a bead yet and I've been running mine at 2 PSI. It looks like you're enjoying your Hustler with them......that thing is amazing. Could you get some video footage of it with the new shoes if you get a chance. That V-Twin roar and those ASX's are a very intimidating combination!

We'll have to plan a time out when we can get everyone down to Scott's for some hardcore 6x6ing. Once I'm all set up and settled in I'll let you guys know.

            • SIX ASX Tires

Four more ASX tires arrived yestrerday just before I went to work. I got up earley this morning and had the tires mounted and then put them on my Max and went in my pond for the water speed test. I tried the tires BACKWARD, FORWARD, LUGS IN, LUGS OUT, I WOULD TRY ONE COMBINATION ON ONE SIDE AND ANOTHER ON THE OTHER SIDE AND THEN INTO THE POND TO SEE IF ONE SIDE PULLED BETTER THEN THE OTHER. Heres what I learned. The out side lugs on these tires certainly help the swim speed and turning the lugs inward caused turbulence that pushed the machine sideways and made it hard to control. After playing with all the different combinations I settled on the Right side forward, backward, forward.Didn't get the chance to run all three on the right forward, but the current combination gives me reasonally good water speed (I will get some video) and Pretty good control which is really important in the swamp. I can turn the machine left of right by leaning or using the sticks. I don't like to run my machine at high RPM in the water, I found that running the machine at about two thousand RPM gave good control and swim speed. More RPM does increase swim speed but not enough for me to justify the rpm. I would rather just walk the machine through the pond than rev it out. When I want to turn I increase the throttle a little to the left or right side. I don't have a GPS like Rut, I simply know what I like for the conditions I run in. Swim speed to me is reasonable and a good compromise for the available traction which as close to a track as you can get. If your looking for pure swim speed go with something else. If you are willing to deal with the extra weight and you want to go through that mud hole that know else can make than these are your tires. I need more stick time and more adverse conditions to report on the mudding ability but so far they seem far better than any other combination I have seen. You could probably get away with running these tires with 5/16 inch spacers on a MAXIV, but I am not sure I would. I am still working on mud flaps and you need mud flaps if you are gonna run these tires on a MAX.THESE BAD BOYS ARE WIDE!!!!!TURNING IS MUCH EASIER THAN I EXPECTED, BUT MAN THEY TEAR UP THE GROUND!!

She looks like she is enjoying the ride. Nice machine
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

                  • Thanks Lewis! Now that she knows how to drive, I figure if I get challenged to a mudding contest, I will let her drive. It will shave about 120lbs off of the Hustler! Talk about lowering exerted psi!

                      • fulleraviation ,

I bet the mud flaps that you installed on your Max IV, sure do the job of keeping mud and water out your tub , don,t they? I don,t know about a Hustler Bigfoot , but if you run the ASX tires on a Max IV,, the mud flaps like you installed, are a must have!

                        • Those mud flaps and asx tires look like what Recreatives should have been providing for years. Great job on the innovative thinking!

                          • I'll test them this weekend. I don't think I added much to the looks though.

The material I used was 7 inch baler belting from tractor supply. A 5" or 6" might be less gaudy, but was not available.
