  • Hi Lenny, welcome to the site. To find what you are looking for without having to look through tons of thread, just use the search in the upper right of each page. Since you have several specific questions, try starting a new thread in the Argo forum since this is mainly just an introduction thread. Again, welcome to the site.

      Welcome to the site Lenny,
For the winch you can make something similar to this: Welcome to Richard's Relics Parts for ATV's
You can easily get 30 hp plus from your briggs, but it does cost $ If you p.m. me your email I can forward details to you....or contact a local lawnmower racer, they know how.
I'm not sure the 24" tires fit the responce, but they are only available from your Argo dealer, so ask there.

      • First off Hi all Iam not much of a computer wizz and just found this site and was amazed at the machines here, you guys and gals got some fine hardware and to see the old machines being resurrected like back in the hayday is fantastic.I was introduced to amphibious vehicles when I was ten years old and that was back in the mid sixty,s my father was a avid outdoors man and somehow found that there was a manufacturing facility close to where we lived,so he took me and my uncle up to see these machines being built it was amazing to a ten year old,the fellow that owned the company met us at the door and showed us thru, his name was John Gower a very smart fella we spent a couple of hours wandering around and dad went for a test ride with John. Before we left dad ordered one and I cant remember how long it took too get it but it seemed like forever. So I became the only kid in my school if not Niagara with a six by six in 1966,as not too bore you all to death we collectively have owned a dozen or so machines since,Jigger,Amphicat,Bazoo,Terra Tiger,Stalker,Argos, and not one year has gone by since 66 that we did not have at least one machine usually two,my hands are permanently stained from chains, would not have it any other way and if I can figure out how to put some pics up I will in the future.

        • H North Country Tough, welcome to the site and thank you for a great introduction. For posting photos, this thread explains what to do: http://www.6x6world.com/forums/6x6-w...-pictures.html

You have quite the background in ATVs and it is great that you had such an early and close encounter with John Gower. I hope you do share some of your machines with us.

          • Hi, I've owned an Argo frontier 580 6x6 since 2009 before that I had an Artic cat 400 and there is no comparison, I just traded my 580 for the 2012 650hd 6x6 I'm also starting to look at the adair tracks but don't know yet if I can get them because of my location. I live in the middle of British Columbia, Canada. I am learning quite a bit from this site thanks,

                • Hi, I enjoy this site & this is my first time posting. I have 2 Atex Chiefs & a 300. I was wondering if anyone knows where I could get a good starter for JLO Rockwell 440? Model no. 2F440-4. Also does anyone know the difference between model no. 2F440-4, 2F440-2 and model no. 2F440-3...mainly the number at the end?
                  Thanks
                  Randy

                  • Hi Randy, welcome to the forums. Since there aren't a whole lot of people who check this thread, try starting a new thread in the wanted section of the classifieds here on the site. Someone may have a starter for you.

                    • My name is Zach. I live in Kansas city by the NASCAR track. I have wanted an amphibious vehicle for years. I have collected three over the past few years. Two terra tigers, and one attex 8x8 Tank trainer. They all need a lot of work. Right now I am trying to figure out which engine to fix, to run in my red terra tiger. I have a 292 Kawasaki that needs a starter, and carb rebuilt. I also have a JLO Rockwell that needs a starter spring, but has a brand new looking clutch. After that all it will needs are some chain links replaced and brake cable. Then some paint after winter. The 8x8 is in bad shape, the body is split all over. During the winter I am going to take out the axles and frame, to start plastic welding it back together.

The eccentric collar on the outer bearing holds the axle in place. Watch this http://www.6x6world.com/forums/conte...placement.html
I like to put a spacer between the outer bearing and the sprocket tube and a split collar on the inside of the sprocket tube. This keeps the axle in place if the bearing collar loosens or the lip on the bearing breaks.... and even if the thru bolt shears.
