  • Hello everyone,

Just picked up a Max II last week. Needs a little work but not really too much considering the age. (ser# 14177) 14 hp B & S says 89'...? I am a fabricator by trade and this thing really gets the juices flowing! Lights, racks, roll cage, rumble seat, all to come in the near future. I have wanted one for a long time, liked the versatility of the design and simplicity of the mechanics of them. I've had a 4x4 Honda Rubicon and a 400ex. This is in a category all it's own. Will post pics soon.

      • Thanks Amphibious Drew.

I have quite a few different hobbies but this thing definitely fits in the category of "do-all" machine for my purposes. Adding rear seating over engine for my 2 little girls to make it a family affair. =)

                • Hi, my name is Todd and I just bought a 1988, 8 wheeled argo. I don't have very much experience with argos, (my cousins had one when I was a kid). I've already used your site to get my standard tracks 3/4's of the way on. Maybe the rest tonight, lol. I live in Northern Ontario about 200km east of Thunder Bay. I look forward to picking your brains for much needed help. I will have to post some pics soon, the argo I bought has a homemade top on it set up for ice fishing. I didn't build it but I think its pretty neat. Looks like a big green frog. Thanks in advance for all your help.

                            Derek,
I'm up in the Statesville area. I have a pretty good variety of machines if you want to look some over/ try some before you buy shoot me a private message. What I don't currently own is an Argo.

What you are looking for will probably be impossible to find cheap or close to you. The production numbers were low and thanks to the show gearz every back yard mechanic looks for them. They are not even that good of a machine when considering turning radius and stability in water. These are a few of the reasons for low production also. It uis a collectors machine not a users machine. They do come up for sale once in a while but never at a price id consider cheap. You may be better off looking for a six wheeler with a t-20 in it. I've seen them go for $250-$5000+ in running condition.
