  • Hi Mike and "crew"

I live in Sweden in the big forrest. I have a Suzuki King Quad 700 with 27" XTR and a very heavy skidplate for all rocks around here. I also ride enduro and dirt bikes - Have a 2008 KTM 530EXC Öhlins eq. On the heavy front I have a Caterpillar 941B Army edition.

I´m looking on a 2008 Argo Avanger 8x8 EFI with 208hours on it. Locks nice on picture, but is 208h something to be worried about? It has the new steering and 31hp engine - but was it made some changes to 2009 models? Is there any different accept for the name on EFI to HDI?

    Thanks

    • Hello Bud and Swede, welcome to the site. Swede, 208 hours isnt very many at all. It is basically a three year old machine and that would be about 5-6 hours of use per month. EFI refers to electronic fuel injection which that one and the new ones have. HDI is a newer Avenger model with a new style transmission so there is a good bit of difference there. Search the argo section of the site for HDI and read up on the new HDI transmission used in the Avenger HDI. It robs less power from the engine to make turns much easier.

Still, the older style Avenger is a very capable machine so if you can pick it up at a good discount over a new Avenger dont be afraid to do so.

        • Introduction

Hello everyone. Just thought I'd introduce myself, I go by stromtrooper. I live in northern Alberta Canada. Currently I own a 82 Argo 8 wheeler with the Techumseh 16 horse. I have a frontier 650hd on order and expect it in a couple weeks. I ordered it with the Escargo swimming tracks and I'm hoping they will live up to all the hype. Is there anyone out there that has heard of or tried these tracks.

          • Welcome to the site Mike. WOW, a 1964 tiger! You have got to post some pictures. It's my understanding that only a few were made by hand before A.C. bought them.

                      • Hi Mike, so if this guy says that it is the new transmission on a 2008 EFI his full of shi...? Should a "read" your message as: if it is named EFI it cant be the new transmission?

                        Comment

                        • I was just saying that they are two completely different things. Dont let the EFI in the name throw you off. For 2008, there were carburetors and EFI but just because a 2010 model doesnt say EFI doesnt mean that it isnt. They are fuel injected too. The transmission is a completely separate issue. The Admiral HDI transmission just came out this year. So if he is telling you that a 2008 Avenger has an Admiral HDI transmission, that is not correct.
