Oh, I already have a couple I could pick up. Trouble is that all I have right now is one room at college, and it's already full of engines and stuff!

Hi Guys and Gals:
Justan Indian here, I'm 60 yso and disabled living in northeast Arkansas. I just bought a 1972?? Hustler and came here looking for info. It's in good well used shape. I am going to rebuild it over the winter months. It'll be a good project. Pictures later, I hope.

Don't be shy, tell us a little about yourself. Do you own an amphibious atv? If so, what kind. Where do you live, etc?
We look forward to meeting you.

Hi beagle1, welcome to the site. If you will look in the transmission forum you will find many posts on band adjustment. If you dont see them just use the search. It is also covered on the home page of this site in the how-to section under the T20 Rebuild Article on page 10.

Lots of greetings from Germany
Hi guys
a few nights before in the internet i found out that there is something like a 8x8. Since my time in the german army, when I was driving a TPZ “Fuchs” ( 6x6 transportation tank, 16 Tons, 12 Liter Mercedes Engine, 12 Zylinder, Bi-Turbo, 320 HP and amphibious with 2 props, it could swim!) I am fascinated by AATV`s
! Actually I was “flying” with this little thingi! My sergeant nearly got a heart attack the first time, after that he enjoyed it. You may know it as M 93 Fox, US Army.
Unfortunately its´s very difficult to get an ATV on the road over here. You need a single certification from the technical inspection authority (TÜV) to get an official license plate + vehicle inspection sticker. If you don’t have this, you can drive on private ground ONLY!
The only AATV which can be legalized (till now) is the the Argo Avenger 700 HDi with EU confirmation (CONC Number t1e1*2003/37*0326*01). You can also get the Max 2 and 4, but for private property only.
Costs:
Argo 27.943 $ Listprice (incl. 19% tax)
TÜV 2.200 $
30.143 $
Insurance around 325 $/ year and 195 $ tax/ year! One gallon unleaded fuel : 6,48 $ minimum. Within the last two years (G**gle) I found just ONE used Argo, which went away for around 9.000 $! There are only two distributors in Germany, so there will be nearly no chances to do something with the price.
I am living in a little town in the SW of Germany, called Breisach, Niederrimsingen (urban district). When you use G**gle or B**g maps just look for 79206, Breisach. Then you will see that I have a lot of lakes + the River Rhine around me. All these lakes are belonging to the state and are under lease to companies, which are getting sand and gravel out of it. If I ask these guys, I may get their permit to use it during the weekend!
My mom is living across the border in France, which is quite a chance for me. There is one distributor in France and the french technical authority is not as picky as the german one. I can also save the tax of 195 $, because there is none in France. The insurance will be at least 20% cheaper! So I am going to contact the French dealer in the Bretagne, may be he even has used ones!
Hopefully this guy understands English! My french is limited to order a beer, some food and cigarettes!
So, this should be it for the moment, feels like i´ve been writing a book!
In the hope to become a proud 8x8 owner,
Rainer

Hi Rainer, your English was fine and your introduction was even better. It really sounds expensive to own and operate an ATV in Germany. Are there ways of classifying it as a different vehicle. Perhaps a farm vehicle or a boat? Just trying to think of ways to reduce your costs. Good luck finding an 8x8 and post up some pictures when you do.Welcome to the site!
