  • My name is Matt, and i live in Nebraska. I recently decided to triple the amount of rubber on the road, moving from the harley to an argo. As a child I spent my winters getting tossed around the back end of a smoky, jerky, and incredibly slow Argo that I believe was some sort of an orangish-red color. While the exhaust fumes and neck sprains have sort of clouded my memory of the machine itself, I am the proud father of a two year old outdoorsman and the cycle of madness will continue!!! I apologize for jumping the gun and joining the website without owning one quite yet, but i have been lurking and wishing for way too long. The wife wont ride the bike anymore, and until she saw a few video's of you nut cases on here, I had her sold that this was going to be a safer hobby!!! Between our future home on a small acreage outside of Omaha and a cabin we frequent in Minnesota, I picked out a 650 hd with a plow and will find as much work for it as play. Look forward to talking to you guys and maybe making a ride some time. Mike, is there anyone else here in Nebraska on this site?

    • Hi Matt, welcome to the site. Try searching the Local 6x6 World Members section of the site for members near you. If you don't see any threads with someone near you, feel free to start a new one for Nebraska members. I hope you find an Argo soon so you can toss around your two year old.

      • Hi all my name is Mike,I've been reading all I can about Hustler 6x6.there is a guy here in Oklahoma that is selling two 980s ?
Both are missing the motors and one is all busted up.now usually I am up for a challenge but he wants 750$ for both of them.
I've shopped for motors in the 23-40hp range and found them to be very expensive.the guy says you could use a 10 hp in them but my place is very hilly and rocky so I'm skeptical.imho they are both very rough.my opoligies if he's reading this.
What do you guys think?i want one or two of these really bad and I have the skills to make just about anything work but not a lot of dough, otherwise I would buy a new Argo .

            • Mike and chrismelco, welcome to the forums. Mike, on the Hustler a 10HP motor would work but I think you would be disappointed with the performance. If it were me personally I would want at least an 18HP motor. If the Hustlers both have T20 transmissions with them then I would buy them. At least make a $500 offer and see if he will bite. You could always turn around and sell the T20's and get your money back as long as they are in ok shape.

              • Hey GregTheBeast - you ever get those t20 conversion photos?

                Comment

                • Thanks Mike, they do both have the T 20 transmissions in them but no idea of their condition.
I did make an offer and got up to 600 for both but he budge below 700.
I thought those T20s would be where the most value in the offer would be.
I'm sure I'll have lots more questions and I'll post them on the Hustler forum?

                  • Well i am here in San Diego and I'm trying to put together a maxII
it started out rough but I managed to get most of the project together however it is still not running at this time and it's been 3 years now in storage for 2 years at my cousins house.

The person before me had damaged the body and top heavily large cracks and tears were in the body and the engine was missing.

Somebody had attempted to fiberglass entire top body and the lower portion of the body also.
The body did not take the fiberglass well so it starts to peel off when the body would flex
I'm attempting to use some plastic welding in order to repair the tears and holes with the job really difficult because of all the fiberglass have to strip off of the damaged areas in order to get the plastic to adhere to the body.

My main challenge now is trying to get the carburetor connected in order to see if this engine is going to start.

I have installed an old snowmobile bombardier rotax engine model 464 liquid cooled.

The whole thing looks like It was extremely heavily used and pulled out of the garbage, kind of like a an old battle tank after it has seen some combat time.

I expect it will be a lot of fun if I ever get this thing working not the prettiest thing.

I would like to post some pictures but not sure how to do that so if you want some photos to call me at 858 610-1499
                    my name is Mike Azar

                        • Thanks I have viewed the site and read articles on Route 6x6. I found out that the Jiger was sold as a build your own kit at one time and have hope (longshot dream) that there is a crate og unused parts in the basement where I got the tub. The other option is that when Jack Rempel was evected from living in his car in the early eighties he had to abandon a pile of parts. Iam thinking that my tub came frome there. I am still doing my research before I cut a hole in the tub. I also have a line on a 60's Kohler argo and if I pick it up I will be busy puting it together.

                            • I'm new to the ATV world, but love working on machines. I picked up, what I am told is an old Argo, that is not currently in running condition. I got the chains freeded up and the recoil starter fixed, so now it's time to get the electrical end straightened out (looks like someone tried to rip it out) and there is no spark when I pull it over, the big thing is I need information, or where I can go to get it. The Argo's number is 01346, and the Rotax's is 2138419. I need help to move on to the next phase of restoring the old girl.
                              Thanks for any help
I only get to check this forum every week or so, so please don't feel I am slighting anyone if you ask me a question and I don't respond right away.
