      • Hi there! I bought an old 4 seater Scrambler several months ago; after the wife discovered it hidden behind the barn I decided to go head and restore it. Bought an old cast iron 12hp Kohler for it, but need to restore the brake system first. Would anyone know where I can get replacement brake pads? If anyone else has a Scrambler sure would like to know more about the Scrambler and its capabilities compaired to other amphibious 6x6 Atvs. Thanks

        • Hi Clark1955 and scramblernewbie, welcome to the forum.

Clark, there are a couple of members that have Sears Sportsters. Try searching the site and see if yours looks like theirs. Here is thebuggyman1's:

scramblernewbie, try searching the site as well. There are several posts on Scramblers that may be able to help you out. If not, try starting a new thread in the "Other AATV" section of the site. Good luck with the restoration.

            Hi scramblernewbie,
Tip#1) Learn to hide your projects better...maybe under a tarp, or like I do: under a cardboard box covering labeled "cooking and cleaning supplies". Projects are safe for years.

As for capabilities, scramblers rarely had reverse, and when they did it was a weak electric motor. 12hp is awful light, 16+ is more the norm.
Some members have put t-20 transmissions in their scramblers to really improve the performance. Here is some recent talk on doing that. http://www.6x6world.com/forums/wante...tml#post145133

            • Hello All!

Cameltoad here... I have been an amphibious freak for some time collecting a few toys... now it is time to get them ready for the Arizona fall. I wish I had more time to tinker on the vehicles but lack of garage space & time prevents me from doing so. Does anyone know a good AATV/UTV guy to do stuff on my rigs around Phoenix? I am also looking for a 6x6 or an 8x8.... I've seen a few guys with some suspension on there Attex.... might go that route too... Any pros & cons on I should consider when going to purchase one???? Chime in w/ your advice.... I'm 6'3" so I need to fit.. including a couple kids & a cooler! Know of a good deal near on one???? Would also like to meet up w/ some other amphibious types!

              Current amphibious fleet:
              4wd COOT... w 35" tires
              2wd Wrangler.... not 35" tires...
Amphibious 8x8 1958 XM-410 All Aluminum Cold War Prototype.... (8) 41" tires & most of my $$$$$$.... to cart all the other toys in right???

              • Hi Cameltoad, welcome to the forum. It's good to have another amphibious freak on the site. Post some photos of your vehicles to the gallery if you get a chance so we can check them out.

                • Hi Mike,

I joined this site to see if anyone was interested in a Chaparral G50B motor. My dad was building a scat cat and didn't finish one of them before he died. So I have a brand new motor in the box I would like to sell to help out my mother. I checked around and figured some of your members might want this type of motor.

                  Let me know,

                  Thanks,
                  Susie Butler

                      • Hi my name is Gordon. I stumbled upon this site when I was looking for info on my AATV. I read some of the posts and decided to join. So I hope I can find parts and more info on my AATV. The model and serial number no longer exists on it, so I'm going by looks basically and an old manual I found online. The manual said it had a JLO Model 230, two-cycle engine (we hope). It was apparently made in Elmira, Ontario, Canada. Anyone that can help me out with any info would be much appreciated.

                        • Hi Gordon, welcome to the forum. If you can post some photos of your ATV, someone can probable identify it rather quickly. Just start a new thread in the "Other AATVs" section of the forum when you are ready.

                            anyone know of a DAYCO # ?????

                            Comment

                            • Hi fosho, welcome to the forum. If you will look on the front page of the website under the literature on the left hand side of the page, there are a couple of pages that list DAYCO belt numbers along with the length of the belt. You can measure what length you need and match it up from there.
